Clinicians Complete Joint Ease contains potassium, if you have kidney disease or are taking heart or blood pressure medications; consult your health professional before use.
To date there is insufficient research regarding the use of MSM with blood thinning agents. Clinical observations suggest MSM may have a blood thinning effect therefore exercise caution with individuals on blood thinning drugs such as Warfarin, Heparin and possibly high dose aspirin ingestion.
MSM has a different molecular structure to sulphur medications and has not been known to cause allergic reactions in those with sulfur drug allergies.
Pregnancy and Breast Feeding:
Glucosamine is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of research to confirm its safety. Chondroitin is similar in structure to the drug heparin which is contraindicated during pregnancy.
More Information
Poor joint mobility and stiffness is thought to affect 12% of the population. The areas of the body where this is most likely to occur is in the knees, hips, fingers and wrists. This joint wear could be a result of trauma (injury or overuse), dietary practises, or age-related breakdown and deformity (developmental or genetic). To date, what triggers the onset of poor joint mobility has not been determined.
By the time a person has developed poor joint mobility and stiffness, damage to the joints has already occurred. Part of this profile is altered glucosamine metabolism. Glucosamine is an amino sugar that is produced naturally by the body. It is a combination of the amino acid glutamine and the sugar glucose and found primarily in cartilage - the cushioning material at the end of bones. Joint cartilage also contains special protein molecules called proteoglycans which provide flexibility and resistance to compression so the body can cope with physical stress. Cartilage is constantly remodelling itself, that is old, damaged tissue is being replaced with new, healthy tissue. Without sufficient glucosamine, the body is unable to build and repair cartilage.
Supplemental glucosamine helps the body to restore healthy cartilage metabolism and for most people, this has positive benefits for joint mobility and stiffness. Similar to glucosamine, chondroitin provides nutrition and support for healthy proteoglycan production making it a vital component to help support the structure, function and integrity of joints.
Both glucosamine and chondroitin are slow acting substances and need to be taken long term to help with joint health. Clinicians Complete Joint Ease may be used alongside Clinicians Omega-3 Fish Oil, Krill Oil with NZ Salmon 500 and InflamEase (was MSM Flamm) to support joint health.
